Elon Musk Takes Aim at DNC’s ‘Backroom Dealing’ as Committee Remains Silent on Primary Debates
Twitter CEO Elon Musk Calls Out DNC for “Backroom Dealing”
Twitter CEO Elon Musk has taken to Twitter to criticize the Democratic National Committee (DNC) for their alleged “backroom dealing” after reports surfaced that they will not be holding any Democratic Party primary debates this year following President Joe Biden’s announcement of his re-election campaign. Musk’s comment was in response to a tweet by Cenk Uygur, host of “Young Turks,” who condemned the move as undemocratic and ridiculous.
Debate Controversy
Although the DNC has not publicly stated that they will not be holding any primary debates in the upcoming election cycle, self-help author and Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson tweeted on April 24 that the DNC “plans no primary debates.” Meanwhile, a recent Washington Post report states that the Democratic Party has “no plans to sponsor primary debates,” despite multiple candidates vying for the party’s nomination.
Support for All Candidates
Responding to Uygur’s tweet, billionaire Musk assured that Twitter will “do our best to support candidates from all parties, so that the public may make the most informed choice.” Musk also responded to a similar tweet from Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., who has previously condemned the DNC’s alleged decision not to hold any debates this election cycle.
