Emails Reveal How Cooperating Hunter Biden Business Associate Could Expose Joe
One business associate who has had unique access to Joe Biden and his son over the years, Hunter Biden’s laptop being seized by FBI agents and made public by the FBI is Eric Schwerin, a long-standing executive at Rosemont Seneca Partners.
Emails from Schwerin’s laptop indicate that he handled tax matters for his son and Joe Biden. They also had conversations about Joe Biden’s private earnings potential and unpaid taxes.
He witnessed discussions on some of the family’s most controversial overseas business transactions, which included Hunter Biden’s remuneration at Burisma Holdings natural gaz firm in Ukraine and a plan making money off of the name of a Russian Oligarch, to dealings in communist China with the CEFC Energy firm.
James Comer, Chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee (R-Ky.), revealed Thursday to Just the News that his team had obtained Schwerin’s initial cooperation. This was a breakthrough with an potentially transformative witness who could help Congress learn the who, what, and why of the Biden families pursuit of foreign riches dating back to the early years under the Obama administration.
“He is cooperating with us,” Comer said the “Just the News, No Noise” TV show. “His attorneys and my counsel are communicating on a regular basis. Now, I feel confident that he’s going to work with us, and provide us with the information that we have requested.”
Comer was added: “I think that Schwerwin is going to be a very valuable witness for us in this investigation.”
This announcement comes after the committee learned that Hunter Biden’s uncle James Biden, the president’s brother, has not indicated they are willing to share all the information Comer has sought in its extensive probe into the overseas business dealings of the first family, which accumulated millions from Ukraine to China.
Comer stated that the committee will not be waiting and will issue subpoenas as soon as possible.
“We know individuals, many are cooperating with us now, but others, not so much,” He stated. “We’re going to start subpoenaing people in the private sector, we’re going to start subpoenaing financial institutions to get us the information. And then we’ll go from there.”
Schwerin was not accused of any wrongdoing in his time in the Clinton administration. His former colleagues described him to Just the News, as a respected, straightforward individual.
Schwerin’s cooperation to congressional investigators gives unprecedented access into Joe and Hunter Biden’s financial records and the business deals his first son pursued overseas while his father managed key aspects U.S. foreign policies. Comer highlighted this in a November 17 correspondence that first sought Schwerin’s help.
“Your personal involvement in then-Vice President Biden and his son Hunter Biden’s finances — including your role as president of Hunter Biden’s Rosemont Seneca Partners company —and your numerous visits to the White House, reveal your extensive involvement with Joe Biden and his family’s affairs,” Schwerin was contacted by Comer.
Hunter Biden’s lawyer and spokesperson for the Biden White House didn’t immediately return calls seeking comment. Schwerin did no respond to a request from Pennsylvania for comment.
Below is a list of emails that Schwerin has sent to Congress and the Federal Government.
1. Schwerin said that he was a tax expert and suggested that Joe Biden owe his son money.
In spring and summer 2010, emails state Hunter Biden and Schwerin assisted the White House with documents for Joe Biden’s tax returns after his first year in office as vice president. They discussed the possibility of transferring the Delaware state tax refund from the former vice president to Hunter Biden in order to repay the money he allegedly owed to his son.
“I am depositing it in his account and writing a check in that amount back to you since he owes it to you,” Schwerin wrote to Hunter Biden in June 2010 about the tax refund. “Don’t think I need to run it by him, but if you want to go ahead.”

“Your Dad just called me (about his mortgage) and mentioned he’d be out a lot soon and not really back until Labor Day,” Schwerin emailed Hunter Biden July 6, 2010. “So it dawned on me it might be a good time (also he could use some positive news about his future earnings potential!).”

4. Schwerin was part of the Biden family’s first discussions with CEFC, the Chinese energy company. It began in 2015.
CEFC approached Hunter Biden first about making a donation towards the U.S. World Food Program. He served as honorary chair, according to Schwerin’s own correspondence on the laptop.
“Hunter was recently approached by a large privately owned Chinese corporation, called CEFC Energy China, that has a U.S. based foundation,” Schwerin wrote October 2015
“They’d like to explore making a donation to WFP USA and their CEO would like to meet with the appropriate person at WFP USA the last week of October when he is in the U.S.” He concluded. “My assumption based on the conversations I have had with them is that it would be more than just a token donation.”
Hunter Biden and his associates would soon steer the discussion towards personal business. Hunter Biden was invited in December 2015 to a private meeting with Chairman Ye of CEFC in Washington D.C.
“I am confident that many interesting projects may come out of that in the future,” A business associate explained why Hunter Biden should be there.
Just the News, The Washington Post, among others, reported that the CEFC courtship eventually brought the Biden family a large, diamond-encrusted diamond as a gift, as well as a $5 million no-interest loan, which enriched the original family.
5. Schwerin informed Hunter Biden that Schwerin had undeclared income in Ukraine and that he owed back taxes.
Schwerin advised Hunter Biden four days before Donald Trump took office that he hadn’t paid taxes on the $400,000 Burisma paid him in 2014. He needed to file an amended return.
“In 2014 you joined the Burisma Board and we still need to amend your 2014 returns to reflect the unreported Burisma income,” Schwerin wrote Hunter Biden on Jan. 16, 2017. “That is approximately $400,000 extra so your income in 2014 was close to $1,247,328.”
Investigators have been drawn to this email for the fact that it also describes other transactions. “phantom income.”
Hunter Biden made a statement Late 2020 he admitted he was under federal tax investigation. He said he was cooperating, and that his accountant had done a good job of handling his filings.
“I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors,” Hunter Biden stated the same at the time.
6. Schwerin emails details Hunter Biden’s effort to monitor fathers’ speeches seeking business opportunities.
A number of emails found on the Hunter Biden laptop were handed over to the FBI. These emails chronicle instances where Hunter Biden, his business partners, and official speeches by then-Vice President Biden. Schwerin and Schwerin engaged into an email discussion about Schwerin. One such opportunity was to target a Russian oligarch.
Hunter Biden, then Vice President of the United States, made a $80,000 business proposal to Alcoa shortly after he had given a speech in Russia in 2011 that included the U.S. aluminium firm Alcoa. This was to investigate a controversial Russian Oligarch called Oleg Deripaska. He also worked in the global Aluminum business.
“FYI, note CEO of Alcoa at VP event in Russia today,” Schwerin emailed Hunter Biden while the vice president’s trip was progressing.
Hunter Biden sent an email to Alcoa executives requesting that they charge $80,000 for intelligence and risk analysis reports on Deripaska, the Russian leader of RUSAL, within a matter of months.
“Please see the attached proposal per our last conversation,” Hunter Biden was the Alcoa executive who wrote it on June 3, 2011. “We weren’t able get into it in detail in our meeting so we tried to give a better understanding of the product by attaching some raw data that was produced through the elite mapping process.
“Take a look at the attached and let’s discuss after you have had a time to look it over. I am happy to get some of the other folks on the phone with you if you want us to further explain some of the attachments.”
Hunter Biden’s overture triggered an extensive series of emails among Alcoa officials, Rosemont Seneca executives and others that detailed the scope of the work being proposed by the Biden company.
“Follow-up to initial meeting with Rosemont Seneca Co-Chairman Hunter Biden regarding proposal to provide Alcoa with statistical analysis of political and corporate risks, elite networks associated with Oleg Deripaska (OD), Russian CEO of Basic Element company and United Company RUSAL,” One email was explained.
The emails do not indicate if the deal was ever concluded.
Schwerin continued to be involved in Joe and Hunter Bidens affairs in 2015. Obama made an appointment to a prestigious federal body called the Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad.
“Eric D. Schwerin is Founding Partner and Managing Director at Rosemont Seneca Partners, LLC, positions he has held since 2008,” Obama’s announcement said. “He has also been President of RSP Investments, LLC since 2013.” Both firms cited are tied to Hunter Biden.
Schwerin and Hunter Biden were previously partners in Oldaker, Biden & Belair. This firm sought large sums in earmarks from Obama for their pet projects, according to a 2008 article by The Washington Post.
“Sen. Barack Obama sought more than $3.4 million in congressional earmarks for clients of the lobbyist son of his Democratic running mate, Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware, records show,” The newspaper reported. “Obama succeeded in getting $192,000 for one of the clients, St. Xavier University in suburban Chicago.”
The newspaper article quoted a letter Hunter Biden and Schwerin sent one client that stated they were “working with a number of clients, institutions like yours, and we would like to help you identify earmarks, federal support and grants,” The newspaper reported.
