Embattled left-wing charity subsidiary to teach terrorism book in New York

A key subsidiary of an embattled left-wing nonprofit group is slated to host an event Friday in New York featuring a discussion on a book published by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a U.S.-designated terrorist faction.

The Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, an Israeli-designated terrorist organization that receives tax-exempt status in the United States thanks to sponsorship from the Tucson-based Alliance for Global Justice, wrote in a message on the platform Telegram this week that the event is Friday at 7 p.m. at Brooklyn’s Mayday Space community center. The anti-Israel coalition is beginning a “series of group study events” centered on a text called Strategy for the Liberation of Palestine, which the PFLP published in 1969 and outlines how “to destroy the state of Israel as a military, political, and economic establishment.”

“The only weapon left to the masses in order to restore history and progress and truly defeat enemies and potential enemies in the long run is revolutionary violence in confronting Zionist violence and reaction,” the book declares. “There is no other option in front of the masses of the Arab nation — they face a fierce enemy who wants them to surrender unconditionally.”

News of the event comes on the heels of the Anti-Defamation League requesting state attorneys general in New York and Arizona to investigate the tax-exempt status of Alliance for Global Justice due to its relationship with Samidoun. A Washington Examiner investigation into AFGJ’s ties to terrorism prompted payment processors to kick it off their platforms and donors to jump ship.

“Samidoun’s status as a terrorist organization abroad, or at the very least its connection to known terrorist organizations, calls into question whether AFGJ and its board are exercising the appropriate level of oversight and control over its projects to ensure AFGJ’s charitable assets are being used consistent with its tax exemption,” the ADL’s chief legal officer, Steven C. Sheinberg, wrote to the attorneys general on Tuesday.

The Washington Examiner reported last week that top Democratic fundraising platform ActBlue is allowing a separate subsidiary of AFGJ — Colorado Freedom Fund — to use its platform, raising concerns among Republican members of Congress and legal experts. PayPal, Google Pay, Discover, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express are listed on the fundraiser as facilitating donations. It’s an irony, given that payment processors previously kicked off AFGJ directly over its terrorism ties. Colorado Freedom Fund is legally the same entity as AFGJ.

AFGJ appears to have failed to disclose lobbying on its financial disclosures, since CFF pays to lobby in Colorado, the Washington Examiner also reported.
