Tim Scott condemns ‘despicable’ racist attack on Daniel Cameron as the epitome of racism.
Republican Senator Tim Scott Slams Racist Ads Targeting Daniel Cameron
Republican senator and presidential candidate Tim Scott strongly condemns the racist ads attacking Kentucky Republican Daniel Cameron as an “Uncle Tom,” calling them the “epitome of racism.” Scott also criticizes his Democrat opponent Andy Beshear for remaining silent on the issue, labeling it as “despicable.”
The ads, funded by liberal Super PAC Black Voters Matters and backed by billionaire George Soros, question Cameron’s loyalty to the black community. Referring to Cameron as “Uncle Daniel Cameron,” the ads use the phrase “Skinfolk ain’t kinfolk,” a derogatory term used by black liberals to accuse those with differing political views of betraying their race.
As the first black senator elected in the South since reconstruction, Scott believes that Beshear, as Kentucky’s sitting governor, has a responsibility to denounce the overt racism in his state.
“Why in the world would the governor of a state with the type of diversity he has, with the mantle the people have given him, remain silent?” Scott questioned in an interview with The Daily Wire. “For one reason: Power. Unless it’s that he just authentically believes it all.”
Scott describes the actions of the PAC as race-baiting and an attempt to divide Kentucky for the sake of power. He criticizes their use of the term “Uncle Tom” to demean Cameron, stating, “They feel like they can do whatever it takes to fan the flames of racism, to be small and so addicted to power that you will call that man, Uncle Tom.”
Beshear has chosen not to comment on the ad, stating that since it came from “an African American-led PAC,” he will let them speak for themselves.
The PAC has further intensified their attack by releasing a new ad featuring the same “Skinfolk ain’t Kinfolk” phrase and an image of Cameron as a fictional black character from the film Django Unchained, known for his cruelty towards fellow slaves.
Scott believes that Beshear’s failure to condemn the ad sends a negative message to black youth, suggesting that if they express conservative values, they may become targets. He describes the silence of those who do not speak out against the ad as “complicit.”
Cliff Albright, co-founder of Black Voters Matter Action PAC, defends the ad and accuses Cameron of being a white supremacist. Albright argues that pursuing and reinforcing white supremacist policies is not limited to white individuals, stating, “As we said in the ad, all skinfolk ain’t kinfolk.”

Albright argues that calling Cameron an Uncle Tom, derived from Harriet Beecher Stowe’s novel Uncle Tom’s Cabin, would actually be an insult to the character.
Cameron himself denounces the ad as “racist and hateful,” stating that he never experienced racism or discrimination until he stood up against the national Democrat establishment. He believes that his opposition to their policies has made him a target for attacks based on his skin color.
Beshear has yet to respond to requests for comment.
How does the use of racially derogatory terms undermine progress in the fight against racism?
The senator further emphasizes the importance of standing up against racism and defending those who are targeted. He asserts that the use of racially derogatory terms undermines the progress made in the fight against racism and promotes a toxic environment that only serves to further divide individuals.
Scott also highlights the lack of response from Andy Beshear, the Democrat opponent of Daniel Cameron, as deeply concerning. He questions the governor’s silence and suggests that it may be motivated by a desire for power or a genuine belief in the content of the ads. Either way, Scott believes that Beshear has a responsibility to condemn the racism being propagated in his state.
In addition to denouncing the ads and calling attention to Beshear’s silence, Scott criticizes the Black Voters Matters Super PAC and its financiers for using race as a tool to manipulate public opinion. He suggests that their aim is to create division and exploit racial tensions for their own gain. Scott expresses his disappointment in their use of the derogatory term “Uncle Tom” to belittle and demean Cameron, stating that it reflects a willingness to stoop to any level necessary to maintain their power.
Ultimately, Scott’s condemnation of the racist ads targeting Daniel Cameron aligns with his steadfast commitment to promoting equality and justice for all individuals, regardless of their race or political affiliation. He urges others to join him in speaking out against such racially divisive tactics and calls for a united front in the fight against racism.
