Eric Trump stated Sunday that his father will likely have to face two opponents in the upcoming presidential debate, the first being President Joe Biden and the second being CNN.

The first presidential debate is scheduled to be held this Thursday, with CNN hosting the debate and network anchors Jake Tapper and Dana Bash serving as the moderators. Eric Trump predicted that while he is proud of his father, former President Donald Trump, for the support he has received on the campaign trail, everyone should “make no mistake” and know that his father faces an uphill battle with the debate.

“This is Jake Tapper,” Eric Trump said on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo. “Jake Tapper has compared my father to Hitler before, right? Jake Tapper’s the guy who will yell at his control room, saying, ‘Turn this man off! I don’t want to hear what he has to say…’”

Eric Trump argued: “So understand that he’s not just going to be debating Joe Biden, he’s going to be debating CNN.”

The Washington Examiner reached out to CNN for comment.

The younger Trump stated how he has never missed any of his father’s debates, and he argued that CNN has been hostile to his father ever since the primary debates in 2016. He added, “You better believe” that the network will give a “free pass” to Biden.

The former president’s son also criticized Biden for spending nearly a week at Camp David, a retreat located in western Maryland, to prepare for the debate. He expressed doubt that Biden spending so much time to prepare for the debate displays confidence to voters, and said his father is not spending as much time preparing for this debate.

The presidential debate will not allow either candidate to have pre-written notes, and it will also have no public audience. Independent presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. had failed to reach the necessary requirements needed to appear at the debate, which the network announced on Thursday.

Ahead of this debate, former White House adviser Kellyanne Conway has advised Trump to let Biden talk and “let him stumble” during the debate. Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY), meanwhile, has advised Biden to appear “strong” during this debate, referencing how Biden appeared during his State of the Union speech.
