Eric Trump backs Portnoy about Democrats desire to ‘turn page’ as ‘gaslighting’ – Washington Examiner
Eric Trump has expressed support for Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy’s criticisms of the Democratic Party, particularly regarding Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign approach. Trump argued that Democrats are “gaslighting” voters about Harris’s qualifications and her campaign slogan, “It’s time to turn the page,” seems contradictory given her position in the White House for the past three years. He questioned what policies or proposals Harris has implemented while in office, asserting that there have been none that have significantly advanced the country. The comments came as Harris campaigns for voter support ahead of an upcoming election, following a rocky start after announcing her candidacy in July, after President Biden’s decision not to run for reelection.
Eric Trump backs Portnoy about Democrats desire to ‘turn page’ as ‘gaslighting’
Former President Donald Trump’s son Eric Trump echoed Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy that the Democratic Party is guilty of “gaslighting” voters about Kamala Harris.
With less than three weeks until Election Day, Harris is hurriedly campaigning for voters’ support on her brief campaign. She announced her candidacy in July after President Joe Biden announced he would not be running for reelection, but struggled to distinguish herself from her former running mate.
Portnoy posted a video Sunday on X that included a compilation of Harris speaking on television. He pointed out that her campaign slogan, “It’s time to turn the page,” seems to clash with her position as sitting vice president for the last three years.
“Dave Portnoy was 100% right. That’s all she does, ‘let’s turn the page, let’s turn the page.’ Well Kamala, Democrats have occupied the White House 12 out of the last 16 years, what and what page are you turning?” Trump said on Hannity Tuesday. “What proposal what policy have you put in place? What quantitative measure have you put in place in the last four years that’s done a single thing to further this country? And the answer is it’s absolutely none.”
Trump referenced an opinion editorial by Kathleen Parker of the Washington Post editorial board which called to resign from her position in order to give Biden a better chance at reelection. Similar opinion editorials followed.
“He’s absolutely right in terms of the gaslighting. You literally see that the greatest rebranding of any person in the history of the world with the media and Kamala over the last nine weeks,” Trump said.
At the time of the Washington Post editorial, only 37% of those surveyed by FiveThirtyEight approve of Harris, an especially low approval rate for a vice president. Even at the end of then-Vice President Mike Pence’s term, his approval rating was only a seven-point drop from its beginning at 41%, according to a Gallup poll.
Now, Harris is tied with Trump across swing states.
