Federal workers and Biden insiders concealed classified documents for more than a year, as evidenced.
The White House Scandal: Cover-Up and Deception
The House Oversight and Accountability Committee has uncovered shocking evidence of a cover-up involving President Joe Biden’s personal attorneys, White House employees, and even a Department of Defense employee. For over a year, they concealed classified documents from Biden’s time as vice president and lied about it.
The president’s lawyers claimed that the documents were discovered at the Penn Biden Center on November 2, 2022. However, the House Oversight Committee has compiled compelling evidence that the timeline of events began in 2021 and involved at least five White House employees.
Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer expressed his disbelief, stating, “There is no reasonable explanation as to why this many White House employees and lawyers were so concerned with retrieving boxes they believed only contained personal documents and materials.” He addressed this concern in a letter to White House counsel Edward Siskel.
The letter reveals that the White House staff coordinated the movement and removal of boxes containing classified materials at the Penn Biden Center, starting in March 2021. Shockingly, it wasn’t until November 2, 2022, over a year later, that the Biden administration informed the National Archives about the improperly held documents.
Annie Tomasini, an assistant and senior adviser to the president, went to the Penn Biden Center on March 18, 2021, to take inventory of Biden’s documents. Then, on June 28, 2022, at the direction of Dana Remus, former White House counsel, Biden’s former assistant Kathy Chung packed up the documents. Remus contacted Chung using personal contact information to evade potential Freedom of Information Act disclosures.
According to the letter, two days later, Remus, Anthony Bernal (assistant to the president and senior advisor to the first lady), and an unidentified White House employee went to the Penn Biden Center to transport as many boxes as possible.
Months passed, and on October 12, 2022, Ashley Williams (Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of Oval Office Operations) and Biden’s personal attorney Pat Moore visited the center for further assessment. The next day, Williams returned to retrieve a few boxes, and Biden’s attorney Bob Bauer informed Chung that Moore had started going through the boxes.
While Bauer claimed that the classified documents were discovered on November 2, 2022, the timeline conveniently omits all the planning and meddling related to the documents.
The committee finds it deeply concerning that boxes of documents may have been removed from the Penn Biden Center before the National Archives arrived. Chairman Comer has requested more information from the White House to shed light on these troubling actions and apparent deceit regarding Biden’s mishandling of classified documents.
Comer is also demanding transcribed interviews with five top Biden aides involved in retrieving the boxes, including Tomasini, Williams, Bernal, and Remus.
Despite the mounting evidence, Biden has not faced any criminal charges for mishandling classified documents. In contrast, his Department of Justice has relentlessly prosecuted former President Trump for similar allegations. It’s worth noting that Biden, as vice president, did not possess the power to declassify documents.
Furthermore, The Federalist’s Margot Cleveland reports that the Penn Biden Center is located in a busy D.C. office building with public areas, including a reception area on the roof. In contrast, Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home was private and protected by the Secret Service.
Why does the Oversight Committee’s investigation of the White House scandal involving classified documents raise concerns about transparency and ethical conduct in the Biden administration
Hite (White House Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Cabinet Secretary) emailed Annie Tomasini, instructing her to retrieve certain boxes that were stored at the Penn Biden Center. Tomasini then contacted Kathy Chung and asked her to retrieve those boxes and bring them to the White House. It is important to note that no inventory or documentation was provided to justify the retrieval of these boxes, raising suspicion about their content.
The Oversight Committee’s investigation also uncovered an alarming incident involving a Department of Defense employee. Nicholas Taylor, a military officer working at the Pentagon, sent an email to a White House employee on September 1, 2021, requesting access to the Penn Biden Center. This email raises questions about the involvement of the Department of Defense in the cover-up and deception.
The events revealed in the Oversight Committee’s investigation demonstrate a deliberate effort to conceal and withhold crucial documents from the public. The actions of President Biden’s personal attorneys and White House employees indicate a clear intention to deceive and manipulate the truth. This undermines the transparency and accountability that should be the cornerstone of any administration.
Chairman Comer and the Oversight Committee are calling for a thorough investigation into this matter. It is essential to uncover the extent of the cover-up, identify those responsible, and hold them accountable for their actions. The American people deserve to know the truth and have confidence in their government’s commitment to integrity and honesty.
If the allegations are proven true, this scandal will undoubtedly tarnish the reputation of the Biden administration and raise serious concerns about their commitment to transparency and ethical conduct. It is crucial for President Biden to address this issue promptly and take appropriate action to restore trust in his administration.
The White House scandal involving the cover-up and deception surrounding classified documents is a deeply concerning and alarming revelation. The American people have the right to expect honesty and accountability from their government, and any attempt to conceal vital information undermines the foundation of democracy. The Oversight Committee’s investigation must be taken seriously, and the truth must be uncovered to restore faith in our institutions and ensure that such actions are never repeated.
