New Capitol Hill security footage challenges Jan. 6 narratives.
WASHINGTON—Prepare to have your perceptions challenged. The Epoch Times has conducted a groundbreaking three-month investigation into the events of January 6, 2021, at the U.S. Capitol. Through the analysis of 41,000 hours of surveillance video from the U.S. Capitol Police, we have uncovered dramatic footage that reveals a different story than what has been widely reported.
Since late April, our team has been meticulously reviewing previously hidden video footage, and the first results of this ongoing investigation are now available in an Epoch TV Special Report. Hosted by Joshua Philipp and senior investigative reporter Joe Hanneman, this report presents the shocking findings that challenge the narratives surrounding the events of that day.
So far, The Epoch Times has obtained 65 video clips from the U.S. Capitol Police CCTV database, with another 64 clips pending. These videos cover a wide range of topics related to January 6, providing a comprehensive and in-depth look at what really happened.
Unveiling the Truth: The Pink Beret
One of the most intriguing figures to emerge from our investigation is the enigmatic “Pink Beret.” This young woman, with her stylish clothes, high heels, Dolce & Gabbana handbag, and distinctive pink beret, caught the attention of many bystanders in the massive crowds at the U.S. Capitol on January 6. Known on social media as #PinkBeret, she played a significant role in the events of that day.
Our research and collection of video clips have shed light on Pink Beret’s actions and interactions. We have discovered that she was present during the first breach of police lines near the Peace Fountain on the Capitol’s west front. One defendant in a criminal trial even claimed that Pink Beret lured him into the Capitol Visitor Center and attempted to involve him in illegal activities.
After more than two years, the FBI finally identified Pink Beret as Jennifer Inzunza Vargas Geller. Surveillance video shows her moving through the Capitol Visitor Center and other areas of the building, directing people and engaging in suspicious behavior.
On May 9, the Department of Justice charged Ms. Geller with four misdemeanor counts related to January 6. Her case, along with that of her husband, Spencer Sidney Geller, who was charged separately, has raised questions about the handling of these cases and the pursuit of justice.
The Truth Behind Officer Brian Sicknick’s Death
Another significant revelation from our investigation involves the death of Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick. Previously unseen CCTV footage provides a clearer picture of the events leading up to his tragic passing.
Contrary to initial reports, Officer Sicknick’s cause of death was determined to be two strokes, not the result of a violent attack. The video shows that he was exposed to pepper spray during the chaos at the Capitol, but it was not the direct cause of his strokes.
Two individuals were charged with assaulting Officer Sicknick with pepper spray, but our investigation reveals that the circumstances surrounding his exposure were more complex than previously understood. The video footage captures the moments when Officer Sicknick and other officers engaged with the rioters, providing crucial context to the events that unfolded.
The Oath Keepers: New Evidence
Our investigation has also uncovered new evidence related to the Oath Keepers, a far-right extremist group accused of seditious conspiracy in connection with the Capitol attack. A key piece of prosecution evidence—a three-way phone call allegedly involving Oath Keepers founder Elmer Stewart Rhodes III—has been called into question by the defense.
Previously unseen video footage shows Mr. Rhodes attempting to make phone calls near the Capitol during the time in question. This footage contradicts the prosecution’s claim that the call took place and provides support for the defense’s argument that Mr. Rhodes was actually trying to get Oath Keepers away from the Capitol, not incite violence.
The Tragedy of Rosanne Boyland
One of the most heartbreaking stories to emerge from January 6 is the death of Rosanne Boyland. Our investigation has revealed new details about her final moments and the efforts made to save her life.
Contrary to early reports, Ms. Boyland did not collapse in the Rotunda as initially stated. CCTV footage shows that she was found lifeless in the Lower West Terrace tunnel and was immediately attended to by medics. Dramatic resuscitation efforts were made, but tragically, they were unsuccessful.
These are just a few of the revelations that our investigation has uncovered. The Epoch Times remains committed to pursuing the truth and providing a comprehensive and accurate account of the events of January 6, 2021.
