EXCLUSIVE: Wesleyan Encourages Students To Masturbate, Take ‘Kink Quizzes’ In Mandatory COVID Module

Wesleyan University, a private Connecticut liberal arts college where tuition costs upwards of $61,000 a year, made students pass an online COVID-19 module before they could return to campus, a module that suggested they embrace “digital intimacy,” such as “good old fashioned phone sex,” The Daily Wire has learned.

The module, titled “COVID 104,” was sent by the student government to undergrads prior to the spring semester, according to an email obtained by The Daily Wire. It also included PowerPoint slides warning students to “beware of misinformation and disinformation,” and guidelines on mandatory weekly testing. It was about two hours worth of material, Wesleyan noted.

A resources section entitled “Sexual Health” raised the eyebrows of multiple students. It suggested they try “masturbation/self-love,” “sexy video chatting,” “good old fashioned phone sex,” “write erotica,” “practice dirty talking,” and “create the perfect ‘sexy time’ playlist.”

It also encouraged undergrads to “take some kink quizzes” — with a partner or by themselves — “talk about fantasies,” engage in “sexting” and even “buy some toys,” such as one’s “you haven’t tried before.”

The resources are from Wesleyan’s office of health education (WesWell) and office of support, healing, activism, and prevention education (SHAPE), according to the module. WesWell also distributes free lube and condoms on campus and has a library for students with a selection of contentious books, like one titled “Secret Sisters: Stories of Being Lesbian and Bisexual in a College Sorority” and another titled “Lesbian Sex.”

Under the sex material, the university made further strides to encourage students to not leave their dorms and embrace “digital intimacy.” It urged students to use condoms, oral dams, and lube to reduce the risk of getting COVID-19, noting that “proper sex toy hygiene” is important — especially “after a sex toy has been in someone’s anus.”

The university conceded that “connecting doesn’t always have to include sex either,” which students indicated to The Daily Wire they view as a given. Yet, Wesleyan states that it recognizes “that an ‘abstinence-only’ practice during COVID isn’t realistic.”

Students are currently required to get a COVID-19 booster shot unless they have an exemption. The module contained questions some undergrads quibbled with — like one that asked why the United States has a higher coronavirus mortality rate than Japan. The correct answer was because the U.S. has allegedly made “the wearing of masks and vaccinations into political issues,” as well as because Japan has a “functional, centrally controlled public health system,” and “a high degree of science literacy and public trust in medical science.”

Wesleyan University did not respond to a Daily Wire request for comment.

The Middletown Republican Town Committee, a local group based near Wesleyan, pushed back on the sex resources. Chair William Wilson told The Daily Wire he is not shocked and thinks the school “should work more with Middletown and not against Middletown.”

“If I had a student going there, I would be flabbergasted. I would probably pull the student out of the school,” he said. “They should be going there to learn and not go in there for sexual history tests, or anything to do with what they should be doing sexually — [like] exploring it. That’s not their job as a university. It’s to teach them, to get them ready for life after school.”

Wilson’s sentiment was echoed by Connecticut state Sen. Rob Sampson. He told The Daily Wire that he thinks the module and related sex material are indicative of the “radical” cultural change being instituted on college campuses.

“This ‘quiz’ and these ‘resources’ are indicators of the decline of American higher education, where there is less and less focus on academic enrichment, and more on promoting radical, and sadly often anti-American, cultural change,” Sampson said. “This is a private college, and of course parents and students can spend their money any way they choose in a free society, though I would hope the market would offer them superior choices.”

Wesleyan SHAPE Director Johanna DeBari did not return multiple requests for comment. One student says he called DeBari to ask questions about the group’s sex resources but she declined to comment once he asked to record the conversation.
