Quarterly data from ‌2023 shows violent ⁣crime, especially homicides, have dropped near its lowest level in 50 years. ‍ The data is⁤ complex, however,‍ as most ⁣states have seen serious ⁤increases in crime since the ‍coronavirus pandemic.

Baltimore, for ⁢example, wrapped up 2023 with a ⁤major ⁣21% drop in ⁤homicides, only after recording the⁤ highest murder per capita and robbery rates in 2022.

Data from SafeHome ‍ analysts ⁣showed property crimes rose 7% nationwide between 2021 and 2022, while motor vehicle thefts rose⁤ by 11%.

Violent crime is one‌ of the key issues heading ‍into the 2024 ⁤presidential election,⁤ especially amid the broken border.

Biden acknowledged⁤ there’s work ⁣to ‌be done ‍by ⁣pushing his latest bipartisan border bill.

“This bill would save lives, bring order to the border,” he said. “It‍ has the funds that many of our⁢ cities badly need as well. It would‍ also give me as president or any other ⁢president temporary authority to⁣ shut ‍down the border⁢ when a⁣ number of immigrants⁣ is overwhelming, if you regain control of the ⁢border.”

Republicans argue that Biden already has the authority to shut down the border.

Data ‍from Customs and Border Protection showed that from May ⁤2023 ‌to December 31st, ⁢the Department‍ of Homeland⁤ Security returned ⁢a record 472,000 immigrants who crossed the border.

GOP lawmakers ‍question why a certain number⁢ of migrants would be needed⁢ to take action,‍ considering the border⁣ is already out⁢ of control as⁤ thousands ⁤of Americans⁢ continue to die from fentanyl.

Ultimately, Biden needs to find common ‍ground with ⁢Republicans and stop blaming their disagreements on political games if he wants‌ a border bill to hit the House floor.

How ‌has the crime rate in⁢ America changed under President Biden’s administration compared to 2019?

Cs.

Overall, President ‍Biden’s claims⁤ about the safety of America under his administration have been met with skepticism. While there has been a decrease in violent crime and homicides, especially when ⁢compared to 2019, there are still concerns about the overall crime ‌rates. The coronavirus‍ pandemic has‍ had a significant impact on crime rates,⁢ with many⁤ states experiencing increases in crime. It is important to analyze the ⁣data thoroughly to get a comprehensive understanding of the situation.

Additionally, the ⁢issue of violent crime has become a central⁤ topic in the 2024 presidential election, ‍particularly in the context ‌of the broken border. President Biden recognizes‍ the need for action and has pushed for a ⁤bipartisan border bill ⁢that he believes would bring order ⁣to‌ the border and provide necessary funds for cities in need.⁤ However,⁣ Republicans argue that ⁢the president already has the authority to ⁣shut down the border and question why a specific number ⁤of migrants would be required before taking action. The ongoing fentanyl crisis, which has claimed the lives of thousands‌ of Americans, adds‍ to the urgency of ‍the situation.

In order to address these challenges effectively, President ‌Biden will need to ⁢find common ground with Republicans and work towards bipartisan solutions. Blaming‍ disagreements on politics is not a productive approach and does not result in meaningful progress. It is⁢ crucial for the administration to prioritize‍ the safety and security of all‌ Americans and work towards finding effective‌ strategies to combat crime and address border issues.

In conclusion,⁢ President Biden’s claims about the safety of ⁣America under his administration need to be carefully‍ evaluated in light of available data.⁢ While there have been improvements in certain areas, there are still concerns about crime rates and ⁢the broken border. It is imperative for the administration to work towards bipartisan solutions and prioritize the safety ⁤and security of all Americans. Only through collaboration and effective strategies can the nation address these ⁢challenges and ensure the well-being of its citizens.
