This is not a genuine news article. It originates from a site that categorizes some articles as “memes and satire news.”

Fact Check:

A man was arrested in Florida on Friday after allegedly stealing a car and hitting a police officer with it, according to New York Post. Police pursued the man in a chase that led to a swamp, the outlet reported.

An alleged news article has a headline that reads, “Florida man kidnaps scientist to make his dog immortal” and shows a mugshot allegedly depicting the man.

“I WOULD NOT CONVICT,” the caption reads.

This is not a genuine news article, however. There are no credible news reports matching the headline. The screenshot appears to stem from a site called The Mother of All Nerds. The mugshot is not related to the alleged story. It appears to stem from an article from an outlet based in Miami, Florida called Local 10 News and covers a man charged with domestic battery after throwing a banana at his girlfriend’s head.
