A recent post on X (formerly Twitter) by user Billy Joe Cactus claims to⁢ share a quote from Vice President Kamala Harris, suggesting she expressed a lack ‌of concern for the Constitution. However, this quote is identified as false, with no evidence‌ found in Harris’s social ⁢media accounts or any credible news ⁤sources. Verdict: False

There is no evidence Harris said this. The alleged quote cannot be found via any of her social media accounts or in any credible news reports.

Fact Check:

Hillary Clinton spoke at the Democratic National Convention Monday night and spoke about the “highest, hardest glass ceiling” that she believes Harris can break, according to BBC. Unlike Clinton’s 2016 presidential bid, Harris has seemingly avoided making her gender the center of her own, but Clinton believes she helped put “cracks” in said ceiling, the outlet reported.

An X post claims to show a Jan. 21, 2021 quote from Harris expressing disregard for the U.S. Constitution. Circled in red is the sentence “These Trumpers think we care about the constitution.”

The rest of the alleged quote reads, “We have the power now, it’s time to end this They really don’t get. We will block them in the courts, we will use federal law enforcement and the military. After Joe inflicts the death blow, I’ll take the reigns. They will beg me for a loaf of bread.”

This is not a genuine quote from Harris, however. There are no credible news reports about Harris saying this and the statement cannot be found on her X or Facebook accounts. She delivered her first speech as vice president on Jan. 20, 2021 but made no such remarks, according to the White House transcript.

Claims that Harris made the statement first spread years ago. Check Your Fact previously debunked this claim in January 2021. This claim was additionally debunked by Reuters

Check Your Fact reached out to a Harris spokesperson.
