FACT CHECK: Did the White House recently remove a social media photo of covert Delta Force teams?
A viral post on social media claimed that a photo of covert U.S. Delta Force teams operating in Israel was posted and then deleted by the White House on its Instagram account. This information stirred significant attention and controversy. However, the allegation is false. According to reports, the White House initially uploaded the image in October 2023 but removed it after it was discovered that the faces of the personnel were not adequately obscured. Consequently, their identities were potentially exposed. The controversy arose amidst protests near the White House against President Biden’s management of the Israel-Hamas conflict, indicating heightened sensitivities around U.S. military operations in the region. This scenario highlights the critical issues of misinformation and the importance of accurate representation in media.
