Verdict: False

The claim is false. The clip was originally shared on TikTok in October 2023, making it predate escalating tensions between Israel and Lebanon.

Fact Check:

Recent Israeli strikes in Lebanon have created a 5 kilometer “dead zone,” according to the Times of Israel, which cited a report from the Financial Times. An estimated 1,500 structures have been “badly damaged” as a result of the strikes, the outlet indicated, citing the same report.

The X video, viewed over 2,000 times as of writing, purports to show the Israeli army advancing towards Lebanon. “#BREAKING – Israel: The Israeli army is advancing north towards Lebanon, the passage of military vehicles is occurring for more than 48 continuous hours in escalation of tensions with Hezbollah,” the video’s caption reads. In the video, a fleet of Israeli military vehicles can be seen on a highway.

The claim is false, however. The video is not recent, but was originally shared on TikTok in October 2023. The social media user who uploaded the video did not provide many details about the clip or the location where it was filmed.

Likewise, the video has not been referenced in any recent credible news reports about escalating tensions between Israel and Lebanon. In fact, the opposite is true. On June 27, Misbar reported the video did not show Israeli military vehicles moving into Lebanon, tracing it back to the clip shared on TikTok in October.

Additionally, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have neither referenced the clip on its website nor its verified social media accounts. (RELATED: Video Claims To Show Netanyahu Watching Hezbollah Leader’s Speech)
