FACT CHECK: Has a Fulton County election worker been arrested for election fraud recently?

A Facebook post inaccurately claimed that Wanda Shaye Moss, a purported election worker in Fulton⁣ County, Georgia, ‍was arrested for election fraud along with three other Democrats. However, this‌ assertion is misleading as it mixes up two different cases and individuals. The‍ correct individual ⁣related to the accusation is Wanda⁤ Geter-Pataky, an election worker from Bridgeport, Connecticut. Geter-Pataky, along with a local⁤ councilman, was indeed arrested for election fraud linked to absentee ballots during the 2019 mayoral primary in support of Mayor Joe Ganim. This ⁣case was reported by the‍ Connecticut Post, and further ⁢investigations highlighted the ongoing confusion and misinformation shared‌ on social media, misattributing the actions in Connecticut ‍to Moss in Georgia.

A post shared on Facebook claims a Fulton County, Georgia election worker named Wanda Shaye Moss was purportedly arrested for election fraud.

Verdict: False

The post conflates a Connecticut election worker named Wanda Geter-Pataky who was arrested for election fraud with Wandrea “Shaye” Moss.

Fact Check:

Josephine Edmonds and Nilsa Heredia were charged with witness tampering in relation to an election fraud case involving the 2019 mayoral race in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the Connecticut Post reported. Edmonds and Heredia worked on incumbent candidate Mayor Joe Ganim’s re-election campaign, according to the outlet.

The Facebook post claims Moss is purportedly an election worker in Fulton, County, Georgia, who was arrested for election fraud “along with three other Democrats.” The post does not provide a source to support its claim.

“Fulton County Election Worker, Wanda Shaye Moss has been arrested along three other Democrats for Election Fraud,” the post reads.

The claim is false, however. Another iteration of the claim circulated on Facebook and featured a clip of Fox News host Jesse Watters discussing an election worker named Wanda who was arrested for allegedly “stuffing ballots” in Bridgeport, Connecticut. While the post’s caption claims the segment refers to Moss, it actually highlights Wanda Geter-Pataky, according to the Connecticut Post.

Geter-Pataky, who served as deputy head of the city’s Democratic Town Committee, and city councilman Alfred Castillo were recently “arrested and charged with election fraud,” the outlet reported. The pair is accused of committing election fraud “in connection with absentee ballots for the 2019 mayoral primary” when they supported Ganim, also according to the outlet.

Likewise, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports suggesting a Fulton County election worker with the last name, Moss, had recently been arrested. In fact, the opposite is true. On June 14, Reuters reported the claim was false.

Natalie Ammons, a spokesperson for the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, denied the claim’s validity in an email to Reuters.

“That post is inaccurate,” Ammons said. (RELATED: Did An Iowa ‘MAGA Fan’ Burn Down Home Accidentally While Trying To Burn Pride Flag?)

Furthermore, Reuters reported that the Facebook post conflates Geter-Pataky with Wandrea “Shaye” Moss, a voter registration officer in Fulton County, who sued Giuliani for defamation, according to Reuters. Moss and her daughter Ruby Freeman were accused of “conspiring to produce secret batches of illegal ballots and running them through voting machines to help then-candidate Joe Biden defeat Trump,” the outlet indicated.

Check Your Fact has contacted the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office for comment and will update this piece accordingly if one is received.
