A resident doctor who was training in family medicine not only had an alleged huge cache of child porn, but he also allegedly recorded children as young as 6 years old using a camera hidden in a bracelet as he examined them.
Dr. Bradford David Ferrick (32), of Amherst in Massachusetts was held without bail Tuesday. Since last summer, he had been finishing his residency in medical medicine at Baystate Franklin Family Medicine.

“I can think of no greater fear as a parent or guardian than potential harm coming to your child. Today we allege that this doctor, who held a position of trust with access to children, maintained child sexual abuse material,” Rachael Rolleins, U.S. attorney, stated.
The first incident that led the police to Ferrick’s alleged criminality was when Winchester police reviewed three cyber tips from National Center for Missing and Exposed Children. They suggested that a Google account was posting child pornography. Files had been uploaded from Syracuse, New York to an IP address. Ferrick was at the University of New York Upstate Medical University.
Further tips indicated that illicit material was uploaded to an IP address linked to Ferrick’s home. Investigators searched the house and found 61 electronic devices. These included hidden camera systems and memory card holdings. “thousands of images and videos” The Boston Globe reported that child pornography was being shown.
Ferrick’s affidavit stated that he had bought “numerous hidden camera devices.”
Federal investigators claimed that they discovered a hidden camera in Ferrick’s bathroom. The camera was intended to disguise itself as a wall outlet. Ferrick’s parents found the box for the camera.
According to one recording, Ferrick was reportedly discussing the genitals of a young boy with his mother.
Federal authorities have created an online page for anyone believing that Ferrick may have targeted children. The page lists five facilities where such an incident might have occurred: Upstate University Hospital, Upstate Galisano Children Hospital, Baystate Medical Center Department of Family Medicine-Baystate Franklin Family Medicine, Baystate Medical Center Department of Pediatrics, and Baystate Medical Center Department of Emergency Medicine-Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
Chalonda James spoke on behalf of Baystate Health. “We cannot comment on pending criminal charges. Ferrick has been on unpaid administrative leave from Baystate Franklin Medical Center since mid-February. We are cooperating with law enforcement authorities as they proceed with their investigation.”
