Fans Predict Blockbuster Comeback As Webpage Displays Cryptic Message: ‘Rewinding Your Movie’
This year, Blockbuster Video‘s website was reactivated, giving cheerful fans a thrill. This led social media users to believe that the movie rental business was staged to return.

Twitter, the genuine market, has been active and posting jokes the entire time.
“New business idea: We’re going to come back as a bank and use VHS and DVDs as currency. Time to go visit your mom,” the company tweeted on March 15.
“Our 2023 New Year’s resolution was to reopen Blockbuster but it seemed like a lot of work so we quit. Should we start going to the gym instead?” the account joked in January.
David Cook founded Blockbuster as a camera and video game rental program in 1985. Blockbuster Video boasted more than 9, 000 retail stores at the peak of the party status in 2004, and it employed more over 84, 000 people. Most Americans started going to Blockbuster on the weekends to choose a movie to watch at home.
Blockbuster’s demise was caused by evolving technologies, particularly Netflix DVDs delivered by mail and later streaming services. The business declared failure in 2010 and shut down the majority of its sites by 2014.
One brand location is still available right now in Bend, Oregon, and it’s still a well-liked tourist destination. Netflix’s” The Last Blockbuster” in debuted in 2020.

Some supporters were ecstatic about the prospect of Blockbuster making a comeback.

“Some of my favorite childhood memories were going to Blockbuster on a Friday night,” a third person wrote.
People had ideas for modernizing the industry and questioned how a brick-and-mortar movie rental store may function in the modern world.
One fan suggested that they should launch a streaming service and charge less than[ Sic ] Netflix.
The business made an effort to modify its film rental procedure to accommodate shifting taste. Blockbuster began mailing prospects DVD rentals in the later years of Netflix, but it was hesitant to switch to streaming like Netflix did.
