“Fast X” Director Shares More Information About Jason Momoa’s “Androgynous” Villain
Fast X director Louis Leterrier recently provided an update on Jason Momoa’s androgynous villain in the film.
Momoa described Dante, his character in Apple TV+, previously as androgynous. See.
Variety interviewed him., “I’m the bad guy so it’s fun. I get to be the bad guy finally. I’ve been the good guy for a while.”
He replied, “It’s a lot of fun being the bad guy.” “It’s the best. I love it. And then he’s very sadistic and androgynous. And he’s a bit of a peacock.”
Momoa explained what he meant when he said androgynous. “He’s got a lot of issues, this guy. He’s definitely got some daddy issues because someone…” He said, “Then he cut his own throat saying, “See, I’m giving away too much. You’re good.”
Leterrier would provide more details on Momoa’s villain while Speaking with Variety at party for the film’s trailer premiere.
Letterier answered when asked for more information about the character, describing him as androgynous. “You were the interviewer that got it out of him. Yes. Well, he has a much ruder approach to the character when he’s talking to me about it.”
Then he went on to give more details about his character. “He’s everything that you expect from a Jason Momoa creation. He’s 1000% Momoa. He’s pure color. Pure sound. There’s a smell to him. And he’s loud and he’s chaotic.”
Leterrier replied, “How evil is he?” “Beyond. Beyond evil. Evil and uncontrollable. That’s what’s most dangerous. You don’t know what he’s going to do.”
“And he’s loving it,” He stressed. “Loving it and he’s having a lot of fun. Both the character and the actor.”
According to the film’s official synopsis Momoa plays the son of deceased Fast Five villain and drug kingpin Hernan Reyes, who is now out for revenge to make Dom and his crew pay for the death of his father.
The synopsis says, “Over many missions and against impossible odds, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family have outsmarted, out-nerved and outdriven every foe in their path. Now, they confront the most lethal opponent they’ve ever faced: A terrifying threat emerging from the shadows of the past who’s fueled by blood revenge, and who is determined to shatter this family and destroy everything—and everyone—that Dom loves, forever.”
Continue the synopsis “In 2011’s Fast Five, Dom and his crew took out nefarious Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes and decapitated his empire on a bridge in Rio De Janeiro. What they didn’t know was that Reyes’ son, Dante (Aquaman’s Jason Momoa), witnessed it all and has spent the last 12 years masterminding a plan to make Dom pay the ultimate price.”
“Dante’s plot will scatter Dom’s family from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London and from Portugal to Antarctica. New allies will be forged and old enemies will resurface. But everything changes when Dom discovers that his own 8-year-old son (Leo Abelo Perry, Black-ish) is the ultimate target of Dante’s vengeance,” It concludes.
Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese, and Chris return to the film. “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emanuel, Jordana Brewster and Sung Kang. Also, Scott Eastwood, John Cena, John Cena, and Helen Mirren.
Brie Larson plays Tess, the Agency’s rogue representative. Reacher’s Alan Richtson as Aimes, the new head of the Agency who doesn’t hold the same fondness for Dom’s crew as his predecessor, Mr. Nobody; Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad) as a Brazilian street racer with a powerful tie to Dom’s past; and legendary Oscar® winner Rita Moreno as Dom and Mia’s Abuelita Toretto.
The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 19, 2023.
