Fauci’s undisclosed meeting with CIA on COVID origins investigation revealed by House Subcommittee.
Republican Lawmakers Claim CIA Secretly Brought Dr. Fauci to Headquarters to Influence COVID-19 Origins Investigation
According to Republican lawmakers, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) covertly escorted Dr. Anthony Fauci, former chief White House medical adviser, into their headquarters to exert influence over the investigation into the origins of COVID-19.
In a letter addressed to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Inspector General Christi Grimm, Chairman Brad Wenstrup (R-OH) of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic revealed that new information gathered by lawmakers suggests Dr. Fauci, who was then-director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), played a role in the CIA’s review of COVID-19 origins.
Wenstrup wrote, “The information provided suggests that Dr. Fauci was escorted into [CIA] Headquarters — without a record of entry — and participated in the analysis to ‘influence’ the Agency’s review. Our goal is to ensure the scientific investigative process regarding the origins of COVID-19 was fair, impartial, and free of alternative influence.”
The letter did not specify the date of Fauci’s alleged visit to the George Bush Center for Intelligence headquarters in Langley, Virginia, nor did it disclose the source of the information provided to the panel.
Wenstrup requested that Special Agent Brett Rowland be made available for a voluntary transcribed interview, along with all relevant documents and communications between federal agencies such as HHS, NIAID, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
Wenstrup emphasized the importance of uncovering the truth about the virus’s origins and whether there was any attempt by public health authorities to suppress the lab leak theory for political or national security reasons.
These allegations follow whistleblower testimony to the subcommittee, which claimed that CIA officials paid six officers investigating COVID-19 origins to conceal their conclusion that the virus likely originated from a Chinese lab.
According to Wenstrup and Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH), an anonymous “highly credible senior-level CIA” official alleged that six members of the federal agency, who possessed significant scientific expertise, found evidence suggesting the virus originated in a Wuhan laboratory.

The whistleblower claimed that after the officers reached their findings, the CIA offered financial incentives to six of them to alter their narrative on the virus, as stated in a letter sent to CIA Director William Burns.
The letter continued, “The seventh member of the Team, who also happened to be the most senior, was the lone officer to believe COVID-19 originated through zoonosis. The whistleblower further contends that to come to the eventual public determination of uncertainty, the other six members were given a significant monetary incentive to change their position.”
The question of whether the virus leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology or spread globally after transmission from animals to humans remains a point of contention among U.S. agencies.
While the Department of Energy and the FBI previously assessed with moderate confidence that the pandemic’s origins were likely a potential lab incident in Wuhan, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence declassified a report in June stating that three lab workers who fell ill in 2019 could not be directly linked to the source of the pandemic.
Dr. Fauci, who played a prominent role in the COVID-19 response under both the Trump and Biden administrations, has been at the center of conspiracy theories regarding the virus’s origins. He has consistently dismissed the lab leak theory since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020.
Earlier this year, the coronavirus subcommittee questioned Fauci about U.S. funding to the Wuhan lab, as it was revealed that the NIH provided a $3.7 million grant to the U.S.-based EcoHealth Alliance, with a portion of the funds going towards bat coronavirus research at the Wuhan lab.
In a recent interview with Science, Fauci appeared to change his response regarding alleged funding for gain-of-function research, stating that he was unaware of the grant until the controversy arose.
Fauci’s statement was, “It’s $121,000-a-year grant, and I had a $6 billion portfolio. So, when I said to my people, ‘Tell me what’s going on,’ they said, ‘This is the guidelines, and by no definition whatsoever is that gain-of-function of concern.’ Now, people are saying maybe those guidelines are a little too loose. My feeling is, absolutely, you should reexamine that, and if you want to change it, change it.”
What potential implications could arise from a deliberate attempt to manipulate the narrative surrounding COVID-19 for political or national security reasons
Alleged that this officer faced pressure and intimidation to conform to the lab leak theory narrative.”
These allegations raise serious concerns about the integrity and objectivity of the investigation into the origins of COVID-19. The role of the CIA and Dr. Fauci in potentially influencing the agency’s review is a matter of great importance that requires thorough investigation.
If these allegations are substantiated, it would suggest a deliberate attempt to manipulate the narrative surrounding COVID-19 for political or national security reasons. Such interference in a scientific investigation undermines public trust and hinders efforts to understand the true origins of the virus and prevent future pandemics.
Furthermore, if the whistleblower’s claims are true, it raises questions about the independence and professionalism of the CIA. The agency’s mission is to provide accurate and objective intelligence to inform policy decisions, not to promote certain narratives or suppress information that may be politically sensitive.
The allegations also highlight the need for transparency and accountability in government agencies involved in public health and national security. It is vital for the American people to have confidence in the institutions responsible for protecting their health and security.
Therefore, it is crucial that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Inspector General Christi Grimm thoroughly investigates these allegations and ensures that the scientific investigative process into the origins of COVID-19 is fair, impartial, and free from external influence.
Additionally, the requested transcribed interview with Special Agent Brett Rowland and the release of relevant documents and communications will shed light on the extent of the alleged interference and help determine the validity of these claims.
In conclusion, the allegations made by Republican lawmakers regarding the CIA’s alleged secret escort of Dr. Anthony Fauci to their headquarters in order to influence the investigation into the origins of COVID-19 raise serious concerns about the integrity and objectivity of the investigation. These allegations require a thorough investigation by the appropriate authorities to ensure transparency, accountability, and the pursuit of truth in the understanding of this global health crisis.
