FBI, Ukrainian Spy Agency, and Big Tech colluded to censor Americans: Report.
A Shocking Revelation: FBI Collaborates with Ukrainian Spy Agency and Big Tech to Censor Americans
A recent congressional report has exposed a disturbing collaboration between the FBI and a compromised Ukrainian intelligence agency, resulting in the censorship of American citizens on social media platforms. This revelation has raised serious concerns about the violation of free speech rights and the potential compromise of national security.
The House Judiciary Committee and the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government have released a comprehensive report titled “The FBI’s Collaboration with a Compromised Ukrainian Intelligence Agency to Censor American Speech.” This report sheds light on the FBI’s partnership with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) to suppress Americans’ freedom of expression online.
According to the report, this collaboration began in the aftermath of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The SBU provided the FBI with lists of social media accounts that were allegedly spreading Russian disinformation or expressing skepticism towards Ukraine’s government. The FBI then contacted social media platforms such as Facebook and YouTube, sharing documents and spreadsheets that flagged these accounts for removal.
Shockingly, among the targeted accounts were those belonging to American journalists and even a verified U.S. State Department account. The report alleges that the FBI offered legal cover to Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, to facilitate the removal of these accounts at the request of the SBU.
The report also revealed that the FBI reached out to Alphabet, the parent company of Google and YouTube, to request the censorship of certain accounts. It further stated that the FBI and SBU attempted to censor American journalists on Twitter.
Lawmakers expressed their concerns about the FBI’s violation of the First Amendment on behalf of a foreign entity. They emphasized that the freedom of speech is a fundamental pillar of the U.S. political system, ensuring every American’s right to express their opinions without government interference.
The report concluded that the FBI knowingly collaborated with a compromised foreign agency, employing at least seven willing agents. It raised suspicions that the SBU itself might have been compromised by Russian agents, potentially undermining national security.
Lawmakers highlighted that there is no legal obligation for the FBI to assist the SBU in censoring Americans on social media platforms. Even if such an obligation existed, it would be unconstitutional and invalid.
The report strongly condemned the FBI’s actions, stating that they violated Americans’ First Amendment rights and undermined the agency’s credibility as the nation’s premier law enforcement organization. It pledged that the House Judiciary Committee would continue to investigate the FBI’s involvement in this alleged international plot to censor American citizens.
In conclusion, the report emphasized that efforts to counter foreign disinformation campaigns should never justify the censorship of Americans. The protection of free speech is paramount, and any infringement upon it poses a grave threat to democracy.
