FBI Director Chris Wray Claims FBI Not In Business As ‘Truth Police’ Despite Twitter Files Revelation

FBI Director Chris Wray Tuesday’s interview claimed that the bureau was not in the business policing truth on social media platforms. This is in direct contrast to the revelations in the Twitter Files, that the bureau put pressure upon Twitter to censor the Hunter Biden laptop news.

“The FBI does not, is not in the business of functioning as the truth police,” Wray claimed. “We don’t tell social media companies to censor anything or remove account information.”

Fox News anchor Bret Bailey rebutted the claim, pointing out that Contents You can see the contents of the Twitter Files.

“I mean, there was an FBI request numerous times. Taibbi puts it out. FBI San Francisco request to ban certain accounts. Twitter personnel in this case went on to look for reasons to suspend all four accounts that the FBI wanted to ban or suspend,” Baier said. “Was — is it appropriate to flag social media accounts for — on Twitter or elsewhere due to politics or government policies when it comes to COVID? Is it appropriate in any way? You’re saying it doesn’t happen, but there’s evidence that it had.”

“We don’t tell social media companies to ban accounts,” Wray claimed. “What we do is tell social media companies about information that we have about foreign disinformation campaigns by foreign actors, by foreign intelligence services.”

BRET BAIER FOX NEWS ANCHOR : Let’s start by talking about the FBI and the information you shared with big tech or agents about the authenticity of Hunter Biden’s laptop. How does that compare to the FBI?

CHRISTOPHER WAY, FBI Director: The FBI doesn’t, and is not in business of being the truth police.

BAIER: Understood.

WRAY – We don’t give permission to social media companies for them to censor or remove any account information.

BAIER: The Twitter files are a different story.

You mean, the FBI requested it multiple times. Taibbi publishes it. FBI San Francisco requests to ban certain accounts. The Twitter staff in this case continued to search for reasons to suspend the four accounts that FBI San Francisco wanted to ban.

Was — is it appropriate to flag social media accounts for — on Twitter or elsewhere due to politics or government policies when it comes to COVID? Does it make sense? It doesn’t seem to happen. But there is evidence.

WRAY! We don’t tell social-media companies to ban accounts.

BAIER: You suggest?

WRAY: We tell social media companies information we have on foreign disinformation campaigns by foreign actors by foreign intelligence agencies.

The companies then make decisions on what, if nothing, they want.
