FBI should investigate Jan. 6 charges against Liz Cheney: Poll
A majority of voters back calls for an investigation into former Rep. Liz Cheney’s (R-WY) actions on the Jan. 6 select committee that blamed the Capitol riots on President-elect Donald Trump and his efforts to retain the presidency at the end of his first term.
In the latest Rasmussen Reports survey shared with Secrets, 57% of likely voters approved of GOP calls in Congress for the FBI to investigate reports of her activities while on the House panel. Just 33% said they disapprove of an FBI inquiry.
WHICH JAN. 6 DEFENDERS COULD SEE PARDONS
Cheney joined with Democratic leaders in criticizing Trump’s actions before and during the riots. She later campaigned against Trump this year, going as far as endorsing his challenger, Vice President Kamala Harris, and traveling with her on the trail.
She was accused of witness tampering in a report from the House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight this month.
“Based on the evidence obtained by this subcommittee, numerous federal laws were likely broken by Liz Cheney, the former Vice Chair of the January 6 Select Committee, and these violations should be investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation,” said the report. “Evidence uncovered by the Subcommittee revealed that former Congresswoman Liz Cheney tampered with at least one witness, Cassidy Hutchinson, by secretly communicating with Hutchinson without Hutchinson’s attorney’s knowledge.”
Former Trump aide Hutchinson gave damning testimony during the hearing, some of which has been shown to be false, such as her claim that Trump tried to take control of a presidential limo.

The survey showed that Republicans overwhelmingly want Cheney’s actions investigated. Some 73% favored the call for an FBI look-see, said Rasmussen.
Overall, the polling outfit said that the nation is divided on Cheney, with 42% viewing her unfavorably and 40% favorably.
