Fearful Churches Are Failing to Teach Americans Moral Character, Says Pastor

A recent poll has affirmed what conservatives have been saying: traditional American values are declining, signaling an unfavorable shift in the country’s character.

Patriotism, once deemed important by 70% of those polled 25 years ago, has lost its significance, as only 38% consider it important today. Having children, which 59% of respondents rated important 25 years ago, is now important to only 30%. Even the importance of religion has dropped from 62% to just 39%, according to a poll funded by the Wall Street Journal and conducted by the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago.

The decline of values has prompted concerns from Rev. C.L. Bryant, a senior fellow at Freedom Works, an advocacy group for freedom and small government. Speaking at the Pennsylvania Leadership Conference, Bryant accused churches of failure in this regard, leading to the slow enslavement of Americans. He aimed to inspire people to restore patriotism to the nation.

“In too many cases, it is because the churches in this country are failing their congregants,” Bryant said, lamenting the weakening of our nation’s moral character. “This faith-based nation, as we’ve been even in our founding, is failing in what our founders saw it could be for people of moral character.”

Bryant attributed the decline in America’s moral character to the failure of churches to teach their congregations about patriotism, religion, and the importance of having children. For the first time in history, more than 65% of children aged 7-17 have never set foot in a synagogue, church, or mosque, according to Bryant.

Political Correctness

Bryant chastised pastors for avoiding preaching the truth due to political correctness, leaving their congregants exposed to the wolves of politics in America. He cited the example of Jesus Christ, who was crucified over political issues, stating that pastors need to take a stand and preach the truth boldly.
