Federal Law Enforcement Pressured Dozens Of Americans To Forfeit Gun Rights: Report
According to reports, a trio of federal law enforcement agencies worked together to remove dozens of Americans from their gun rights by secretly agreeing to plea bargains and using a form that was not authorized under Congress.
According to The Washington Examiner, between 2011 and 2019, at least 60 people were stripped of their rights to firearms by the FBI, Secret Service and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. In at least 1 case, the FBI/Secret Service worked with a federal prosecution to press a defendant into giving up his gun rights in exchange for a legal arrangement.

Yours sincerely,” According to the Examiner, an attorney’s letter addressed to a Secret Service agent June 10, 2019,
Gun Owners of America obtained the letter via a Freedom of Information Act Request. It is not clear what the defendant was charged with, nor why the FBI or Secret Service were involved. The letter did not contain a case number.
Signatories are effectively stripped of gun rights by signing the form. They are registered in FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System, and labeled as a “danger” They are the ones who need it. They lack the ability to communicate. “mental capacity adequately to contract” The Examiner reports that their lives are affected.
“There’s a bit of a contradiction,” Gilbert Ambler, an attorney who is experienced in firearms law, spoke out to the Examiner. “They’re having you agree you’re incompetent. If you’re incompetent, how is that a binding agreement?”
Republicans in Congress have stated that federal law enforcement reports that Americans were being pressured to surrender their gun rights warrants investigation. Lawmakers claim that this pressure is unconstitutional.
“Americans can’t simply sign their constitutional rights away, even to the FBI,” Rep. Michael Cloud (R – Texas) made the following statement in December “As Republicans enter a House majority, we must use our investigative power to put a check on federal agencies who have proven to be eager and willing to crack down on Americans’ right to keep and bear arms.”

The top Republican on Judiciary Committee in Ohio, Jim Jordan, made similar remarks last year.
“We’ve said all along we’re going to do investigations in a way that’s consistent with the Constitution,” Jordan. “We’re going to do them aggressively. And there is nothing off the table when it comes to getting the facts and the truth for the American people on all these issues that fall under the broad category of politics at the DOJ.”
