Feds Charge Three Men for Attempted Assassination of Journalist Critical of Iran
The Justice Department announced Friday that three Iranian criminals were charged in the murder-for hire scheme. They had been directed to assassinate an American journalist critical of Iran. announced.
These three men were part of an Eastern European crime organization that was hired by the Iranian government in order to murder Masih Alijad, an exiled journalist now living in New York. Multiple attempts have been made by the regime to kidnap and kill her in America. Alinejad was the subject of a 2021 kidnapping plot which resulted in the indictment and conviction of four Iranian-connected persons.
“The Islamic Revolutionary Guards have been conducting these terrorist operations for four decades. Islamic Republic is ISIS with oil,” Alinejad tweeted Friday.
This incident is the latest act of violence by the Islamic regime. They have brutally crushed protestors who marched in the streets late 2022 to voice their disapproval at the government. The Biden administration has been slow To respond, even though an Iranian military leader recently called for the destruction and disintegration of Israel and the United States.
One of the three listed in Friday’s indictment, Khalid Mediyev, was captured in July in Alinejad’s neighborhood in Brooklyn while allegedly attempting to carry out the assassination. The police found an AK47-style weapon and ammunition in the car of Khalid Mediyev. Rafat Amirov was arrested in New York on Thursday and Polad Omarov was earlier this month in the Czech Republic.
Alinejad posted a video on Friday, saying: “Let me make it clear; I’m not scared for my life.”
In a DOJ press release Michael J. Driscoll, FBI assistant Director, said that three of them were “tasked” With the execution of “coldblooded murder of an American citizen.”
“This plot was an attempt to silence a voice critical of Iranian authoritarianism and human rights atrocities,” Driscoll agreed.
