Federal officials are currently investigating a potential arson attack that struck the office building of three conservative organizations near Minneapolis.
An official from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms revealed to the Daily Caller that the agency is looking into possible criminal intent behind the Sunday fire, which caused damage to the offices of TakeCharge, Center of the American Experiment, and the Upper Midwest Law Center.
Leaders of these groups firmly believe that the fire was a result of an ideologically motivated arson attack.
“The fires were clearly intentional. They specifically targeted conservative organizations,” stated John Hinderaker, president of the Center of the American Experiment, a right-leaning think tank that advocates for “free enterprise, limited government, personal responsibility, and government accountability.”
Hinderaker added, “They didn’t attack the chiropractors, psychologists, or Manufacturers Alliance in the building. We are collaborating with authorities to identify the culprits.”
Although the office building also houses several non-conservative companies, none of their offices suffered significant damage, according to the Daily Caller.
“It’s deeply troubling that our work on behalf of the people of Minnesota and the Upper Midwest may have made us a target of arson—an act of domestic terrorism,” expressed James Dickey, assistant general counsel of the Upper Midwest Law Center, to the Daily Caller. The UMLC’s mission, as stated on its Facebook page, is to “pursue pro-freedom litigation safeguarding against government overreach, left-wing special interest agendas, constitutional violations, and public union corruption.”
Kendall Qualls, president of TakeCharge, claimed that his organization was targeted for being “a conservative black organization challenging the narrative of systemic racism.”
“Attempts to silence us will not succeed,” declared Qualls. “This act only strengthens our resolve to be bolder and louder.”
The incident is currently being investigated by the FBI and ATF, but no suspects have been identified yet, as reported by the Daily Caller.
This fire incident follows an attack on the office of a Republican lawmaker in California just over two months ago. In late November, anti-Israel activists vandalized the office building of Rep. David Valadao (R., Calif.), defacing its exterior with a red substance and posting flyers featuring photos of children labeled as “murdered by Israel.”
