Fetterman Does First Post-Hospital Interview, Raises More Questions
Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman has finally been released from the hospital after reportedly suffering from severe depression, as reported. Concerns regarding his health have been ongoing, triggered by a massive stroke he had before the 2022 election.
His physical condition seems to be worsening to a degree that would prompt anyone not belonging to the Democratic Party to resign. Fetterman struggles to speak with clarity, understand people, and depends on a closed captioning device to communicate.
Despite his limitations, Fetterman’s political affiliation appears to protect him, with the press covering him from the start. A recent interview with CBS News raised more questions than it answered.
The primary question is whether Fetterman can still serve as a US senator or not. The Senate is not a place for handling depression or any serious health condition that hinders proper communication. The focus should not be on Fetterman’s courage but on his ability to perform his duties, which is impossible as things stand. Instead of pressuring him to resign, interviewers take an unwaveringly lenient stance to cover up the situation. It’s a portrayal of a dystopian reality.
In the interview, Fetterman’s eyes appear to be fixed on a monitor screen off-camera, both when responding to questions and while reading a script of some kind. CBS News cleverly edited out 11 different cuts over 45 seconds, all done during a single inquiry. By concealing the fact that Fetterman struggles to read the screen and loses track of his thoughts, CBS News fails to show its audience the true situation at hand. How reliable can the press be if it attempts to cover up the truth in this manner? Would they do the same if a Republican were in Fetterman’s position? The answer is apparent. Fetterman is not fit to be a senator, as it was evident during his campaign, but he seems far worse off currently. This reveals how far the Democratic Party will go to maintain power.
