Biden’s First Comment on Trump’s Mug Shot: ‘Attractive Dude’
President Joe Biden had a playful reaction to former President Donald Trump’s mug shot, which was taken after his Pilates class in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, where he’s currently vacationing with his family.
When reporters asked President Biden for his opinion, he couldn’t help but laugh. “Handsome guy. Wonderful guy,” the president said.
President Biden also shared his thoughts on the first 2024 Republican presidential primary debate, which aired on Fox News on the evening of Aug. 23.
The president expressed disappointment, stating that none of the candidates discussed important national issues such as economic growth, job security, and education.
The first-ever mug shot of a President of the United States was taken on Aug. 24 when President Trump surrendered at the Fulton County jail. He faces a 13-count indictment for racketeering due to his challenge of the 2020 election results in Georgia.
Earlier, President Trump had posted on social media that he would proudly be arrested for fighting for election integrity like nobody else. His mugshot was released about an hour after the booking, and he was released on a $200,000 bond.
In total, President Trump is facing 91 counts across four criminal cases.
Speaking to reporters before flying back to Florida, President Trump called it a sad day for America and a travesty of justice. He maintained his innocence and criticized the cases against him as election interference.
In his first post on X since Jan. 8, 2021, President Trump shared his mugshot with the message “ELECTION INTERFERENCE. NEVER SURRENDER!”
President Trump’s campaign is expected to use the mugshot as a fundraising opportunity, following a similar strategy after his first indictment in April.
The frontrunner for the 2024 GOP presidential candidacy continues to maintain a significant lead over other candidates, with recent polls showing him about 40 points ahead of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Biden Reacts to Republican Debate
President Biden took to social media on Aug. 23 to share his reaction to the Republican debate.
The president responded to several candidates’ statements indicating their continued support for President Trump as the party’s nominee, even if he were convicted.
“A bunch of Republicans on stage. One united, MAGA ideology,” President Biden wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Eight candidates qualified for the debate, including North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, former Vice President Mike Pence, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott.
President Trump announced that he would not participate in the debate, stating that the public already knows who he is.
When asked if they would support President Trump, several candidates, including Ms. Haley, Mr. Burgum, Mr. Scott, Mr. DeSantis, Mr. Ramaswamy, and Mr. Pence, indicated that they would.
President Biden’s campaign reportedly placed a large ad purchase on Fox News’ website before the Republican primary debate to promote his message.
