FL Gov. DeSantis proposes legislation to let parents to sue if their kids are taught CRT
Gov. Ron DeSantis is turning Florida into a bulwark against all the left’s favorite things, like mask mandates, importing illegals, transgenders playing women’s sports, corrupt elections … and Critical Race Theory (CRT). DeSantis announced a legislative proposal on Dec. 15 to let parents sue if their children are forced to take anti-white racism lessons in public school.
The Florida State Board of Education voted unanimously in June to ban lessons on the topic, which seeks to turn the story of the United States into one that is entirely slavery and “white supremacy” which has not yet been avenged.
The proposal, called the “Stop the Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees Act” or “Stop W.O.K.E. Act,” was unveiled at a rollicking briefing at which the governor’s podium bore a sign saying “STOP WOKE ACT” and he was flanked by cheering Floridians holding signs backing the legislation, according to a Forbes story.
DeSantis said the Stop Woke Act would function as enforcement of the ban since it would empower parents to fight back whenever schools took it upon themselves to teach critical race theory despite the ban.
“@GovRonDeSantis press conference is WILD!! In all of my 38 years of living, I have never seen or heard such foolishness,” tweeted Florida state Sen. Shervin Jones (D), whose party has become synonymous with the teaching of racism- and homosexuality-soaked lessons in schools.
DeSantis has rocketed to stardom among Republicans nationwide, with numerous polls showing him as the frontrunner for the GOP nomination in 2024 if Donald Trump does not run.
