Florida man drew 18-inch machete at bar after being denied another karaoke song: Deputies

A man from Florida was taken into custody over the weekend after the authorities said he brandished an 18-inch machete in a bar when he was denied permission to perform another karaoke song.

The incident happened at a tavern in Cape Canaveral, and Travis Jordan, 39, faces a charge of breach of peace due to disorderly conduct in connection with the case, according to WKMG.

Police arrived at the tavern around 2 p.m. on Sunday and found Jordan with bloodshot, glassy eyes and smelling of alcohol. According to witnesses, he had hidden the machete on his body and pulled it out when someone refused his request for another karaoke song. He was eventually convinced to hand over the weapon peacefully.

Jordan admitted to the crime by saying that he had to protect himself because he was threatened a few days prior, but investigators said nothing had happened that night to put him in danger.

Cape Canaveral is a small city in central Florida with a population of about 10,000 residents.
