Florida Republicans don’t want to say whether they are backing Trump or DeSantis
MThe majority of Florida’s Republican-majority congressional delegation are steering clear from state governor. Ron DeSantis is the rival of former President Donald Trump for the 2024 GOP nomination.
Trump and DeSantis both hail from Florida. Recent polls show that the state is in a dead heat between the two. He is known for leading his party to an impressive victory in the 2022 midterm elections. His rise to national prominence has led pollsters, pundits, and pollsters to name him the top primary rival to former president Barack Obama. This left Florida Republicans in a difficult spot politically. The majority of Florida’s GOP congressional delegation did not respond to a question about who they’d back in the primaries.

In recent weeks, a growing number of DeSantis supporters have stated that Trump planned to launch his White House campaign sometime in the summer. Trump was the first candidate to enter the race for the 2024 GOP nomination in late 2013 and has made DeSantis a political target.
