SNAP benefits in Texas ending soon: Up to $1,691 in direct payments.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in Texas

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in Texas is set to issue benefits worth up to $1,691 for the month of July in just three days. This is great news for eligible individuals and families living in low-income households.

When Will the Payments Arrive?

If you are a recipient of SNAP benefits in Texas, you can expect to receive your payment by July 15. Texas has a generous window for issuing payments, which lasts through the first 10 business days of the month. The exact timing of your payment depends on the last digit of your Eligibility Determination Group number.

How Much Will You Receive?

The amount you receive in SNAP benefits depends on the size of your family. For example, a single household will receive $281, while an eight-member household will receive the maximum amount of $1,691. These figures are according to Texas’s Health and Human Services website.

How Can You Use the Benefits?

Once the funds are deposited, you will receive a Lone Star Card, which functions like a credit card. However, it can only be used to purchase food and drink. Please note that alcoholic beverages are excluded from eligible purchases.

Work Rules and Responsibilities

Recipients aged 16-59 must also adhere to work rules. This means that you must either be employed, actively seeking employment, or participating in an approved work program. It’s important to note that quitting your job without a valid reason is not allowed.

SNAP is available in all states, including the District of Columbia, and benefits are loaded onto cards similar to Texas’s Lone Star Card.
