Residents in North Carolina Set to Receive SNAP Benefits
Residents in North Carolina who receive benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) are eagerly anticipating their upcoming benefits. SNAP benefits, also known as food stamps, are issued to eligible individuals and families to help them afford nutritious food.
Benefits are sent out every other day during the distribution period every month to recipients based on the last digit of their Social Security number in numerical order.
For those with a Social Security number ending in 1, benefits are received on the 3rd of the month. This pattern continues through the 23rd, with those with a Social Security number ending in 9 receiving benefits on the 19th, and those with a Social Security number ending in 0 receiving benefits on the 21st.
The amount of benefits a recipient receives depends on their income and household size. For a household of one person, the maximum benefit is $281. However, for a larger household of five, the maximum monthly benefit increases to $1,116.
SNAP benefits can be used to purchase a variety of essential food items, including bread, cereals, fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, dairy products, bottled water, non-alcoholic beverages, seeds, and plants that produce food. However, it’s important to note that SNAP benefits cannot be used to buy beer, wine, liquor, cigarettes, non-food items, or hot or prepared foods.
