Final Virginia direct payment for July food stamps to be distributed in four days, averaging $181.

July SNAP Benefits Distribution in Virginia

All recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in Virginia are in for a treat this July! Instead of the usual week-long distribution period, SNAP benefits will be distributed in just four days.

SNAP benefits, also known as food stamps, are typically distributed from the first through the seventh of every month. However, this month, the distribution dates will be determined by the last digit of a recipient’s case number.

Quick Distribution Schedule:

  • Case numbers ending in 0-3: Benefits on July 1
  • Case numbers ending in 4-5: Benefits on July 4
  • Case numbers ending in 6-9: Benefits on July 7

In Virginia, the average benefit payment per household member is $181. Approximately 9% of the state’s population, which amounts to around 794,600 individuals, receives assistance through SNAP to help with their food expenses.

SNAP benefits can be used to purchase “food or food products meant to be eaten by people,” as well as seeds and food-producing plants, among other eligible items, according to the state guidelines.

Beneficiaries receive their benefits on an electronic benefit transfer card, known as the Virginia EBT card. This card allows them to conveniently purchase eligible items at stores.

It’s important to note that SNAP benefits cannot be used for non-food items, alcohol, tobacco, medicines, gardening items, cleaning or paper products, pet food, or prepared hot foods.

The maximum monthly income permitted for SNAP eligibility in Virginia varies based on household size. For a household of one, the maximum monthly income is $2,265, while for a household of five, the maximum monthly income is $5,412.
