Georgia SNAP Recipients to Receive Direct Payment in August
Great news for Georgia residents who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)! In just four days, you will receive a direct payment for the month of August.
The distribution of SNAP payments in the Peach State will take place from August 5th to August 23rd. The timing of the payments is based on the last two digits of your client ID.
Payment Schedule:
- Client IDs ending in 00-09: Payment on the 5th
- Client IDs ending in 10-19: Payment on the 7th
- Client IDs ending in 90-99: Payment on the 23rd
The amount of money you will receive depends on various factors such as assets, household size, and income. For example, the maximum annual income for a household of one is $18,954, while for a household of five, it is $45,682. On average, each household member in Georgia receives a benefit payment of $188.
Your benefits will be loaded onto an electronic benefit transfer card, which works just like a debit card. You can use it at any qualifying store to purchase eligible food items.
About 15% of Georgia’s population, approximately 1.6 million people, receive SNAP benefits for food, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.
If you are interested in applying for SNAP benefits, you can visit Georgia’s Department of Human Services website under the Division of Family and Children Services section. Alternatively, you can call 1-877-423-4746.
