Renewing SNAP benefits: A guide to food stamps.
How to Reapply for SNAP Benefits
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or food stamps, provides nutrition assistance to lower-income people with monthly benefits.
If you’re a beneficiary of SNAP benefits, you’ll need to reapply to continue receiving them after your certification period ends. Here are the ways to reapply:
Online
One way to recertify your SNAP benefits is through an online form on your state’s SNAP website. The application process may vary by state, but it’s usually a simple process that doesn’t require you to mail or physically turn in a form.
Simply visit your state’s SNAP website and fill out the online form. It’s that easy!
Paper Application
If you prefer to use a paper application, you can also recertify your SNAP benefits this way. Paper applications are available on your state government’s SNAP website and are usually available in multiple languages.
You can submit your paper application by mail, fax, or in person, depending on your state’s specific delivery instructions.
Once you’ve completed your application, you’ll need to complete an interview and provide relevant documents to determine if you’re still eligible for SNAP benefits.
It’s important to note that beneficiaries should receive an application to reapply for certification to their mailing address on file prior to their benefits expiration. To avoid any interruption in benefits, be sure to complete and turn in the recertification form 15 days before the end of the certification period.
Don’t let your SNAP benefits expire! Reapply today to continue receiving the nutrition assistance you need.
