Rhode Island is gearing up to distribute all direct payments to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients for the month of August. These payments, commonly known as food stamps, will provide crucial support to Rhode Island residents enrolled in the program.

SNAP benefits for next month will be worth up to $1,691 for Rhode Island residents participating in the program. This financial assistance will be available starting from August 1st.

On average, each household member in Rhode Island receives a monthly payment of $183. The maximum payment for a household of eight is $1,691, while a single-person household is eligible for up to $281. Additionally, each additional member in a Rhode Island household receives an extra $211 in SNAP benefits.

Rhode Island has approximately 139,400 residents benefiting from SNAP, which accounts for about 13% of the state’s population. Nationally, over 41,200,000 people, or about 12% of the country’s population, receive food stamps.
