Eligibility for SNAP benefits is based on your household’s income. For example, a single-person household cannot earn more than $1,869 per month, while a five-person household must not exceed $4,465.
The amount of SNAP payment you receive in Texas is determined by the size of your household. Single households are granted $281, while those with eight members receive $1,691, as stated on the Texas Health and Human Services Commission website. Larger families, consisting of more than eight members, receive an additional $211 for each extra member.
These funds are conveniently loaded onto a Lone Star Card, which functions as an electronic benefit transfer card. Rest assured, the funds will be automatically loaded onto your card on the designated issuance date.
It’s important to note that Texas has work rules in place for SNAP recipients aged 16-59. Participants must either hold a job, actively seek employment, or engage in an approved work program. Remember, quitting your job without a valid reason is not permitted.
