SNAP payments in‍ the Lone Star State are distributed over the first 10 business days of each month, with the receipt date depending on a ⁢person’s eligibility determination group number. Recipients can expect their benefits over the next 12 days if they haven’t received them ⁢already.

The Mixed Messages of Bidenomics

The payment amounts depend on‌ recipients’ household size — single households receive 1, and eight-member households receive $1,691, ‍according to the Texas Health and ⁤Human Services Commission‌ website. Larger families are granted‍ $211 more for every additional member.

Eligibility​ depends on the household’s income. A single-person household cannot make more than $1,869 per⁤ month, while ‍a five-person household‍ cannot ⁣make more than $4,465.

The funds are loaded ‍onto‍ a Lone Star Card, which functions as an electronic benefit transfer card. The funds⁣ are automatically loaded onto the card on the issuance date.

Texas has‌ work rules in place ‍for⁣ recipients ages 16-59. Participants ​must either work a job,​ actively seek one, or work in an approved work program.​ Recipients cannot ⁢quit their job⁣ without good reason.

SNAP benefits can only be spent on food and nonalcoholic drinks. It cannot be ​used on alcohol, tobacco, items you can’t​ eat‍ or drink, or other bills unrelated ⁤to food.

SNAP is‌ active across all states and Washington, D.C., with slight differences between each program.
