Ford CEO gets ‘reality check’ during electric F-150 Lightning road trip.
Ford CEO Acknowledges Challenges of Charging Electric Vehicles During Road Trip
Ford CEO Jim Farley recently embarked on a road trip across Route 66 in a Ford F-150 Lightning, an electric truck. During his journey, Farley experienced the challenges of charging the vehicle firsthand, which he described as a “reality check” for Ford owners.
Farley took to social media to share his experiences, highlighting a stop at a power station in Coalinga, California, where charging options were limited. He acknowledged the difficulties faced by customers and emphasized the importance of addressing these issues.

Farley also mentioned that Ford is collaborating with Tesla to provide access to over 12,000 superchargers and installing fast chargers at their dealerships. These efforts aim to improve the overall electric vehicle (EV) experience for Ford customers.
Despite the challenges, Farley remains committed to enhancing charging options for Ford EV owners. He plans to produce more electric vehicles and aims to roll out 600,000 EVs by the end of the year.
The Ford F-150 Lightning has faced criticism for its towing range and battery depletion in cold weather conditions. However, Farley’s road trip served as a valuable learning experience and highlighted the need for continuous improvement in the EV industry.
