Hurricane Lee set to approach New England, forecasters caution.
Forecasters Predict Hurricane Lee Heading Towards New England
According to forecasters, Hurricane Lee is expected to make its way towards New England in the coming days. This storm brings with it the potential for strong winds, coastal flooding, and heavy rain in parts of New England and Canada’s Atlantic Coast. The National Weather Service in Boston/Norton, Massachusetts has also issued warnings about increasing surf and rip currents.
Atmospheric conditions are likely to cause Hurricane Lee to gradually increase in speed and shift slightly to the left, bringing it close to southeastern New England before reaching Maine and Atlantic Canada. The National Hurricane Center has provided key messages about the storm’s projected path.

Forecasters have expressed increasing confidence in the storm’s track, with the model spread mostly along the projected path. Little change has been made to the previous track forecast, which aligns closely with consensus models.
Hurricane Lee, although weakened from its peak Category 5 status, has grown in size. This means that its hurricane-force winds now extend farther from its center. The storm is expected to bring rough surf and rip currents to various areas in the Caribbean, including the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, as well as tropical storm conditions to Bermuda.
Due to its large size, the hazards associated with Hurricane Lee will extend well beyond its center, making the exact location of landfall less significant. The storm is currently a Category 3 hurricane with sustained maximum winds of 115 miles per hour, but it is expected to diminish as it approaches New England and Canada.
#Lee is still a major hurricane & poses a serious threat to New England & the Canadian Maritimes. Although weaker this weekend, expect high surf, coastal flooding, beach erosion, & periods of high winds. The Atlantic hurricane season is currently at its peak, with another hurricane named Margot in the central Atlantic Ocean. Margot is not expected to travel far in the next few days. Additionally, there is an 80% chance of a disturbance over the eastern Atlantic Ocean developing into a tropical cyclone in the next week.
In late August, Hurricane Idalia caused significant damage to Florida’s Gulf Coast, resulting in flooding, power outages, and several fatalities.
