Ex-GOP Rep Mike Rogers Aims to Reclaim Key Michigan Senate Seat
Former Rep. Mike Rogers Announces Candidacy for U.S. Senate
Former Michigan congressman Mike Rogers (R.) made an exciting announcement on Wednesday – he is running for the U.S. Senate in 2024!
“I thought I put politics behind me. But like you, I know something’s broken,” Rogers passionately expressed in his campaign announcement video. “America under Biden and his cronies is going in the wrong direction.”
Rogers wasted no time in criticizing President Joe Biden and other politicians for their failure to address significant issues such as inflation, the border crisis, and Chinese aggression.
With an impressive political background, Rogers served seven terms as a U.S. representative for central Michigan and even chaired the House Intelligence Committee before retiring in 2015.
But that’s not all – Rogers also brings valuable expertise in cybersecurity, where he worked tirelessly to combat foreign threats, particularly from China.
Rogers’s decision to run for the Senate comes after longtime Democratic senator Debbie Stabenow announced her retirement, creating an open Senate seat in Michigan. Republican sources revealed that the National Republican Senatorial Committee played a significant role in persuading Rogers to enter the race.
On the Democratic side, Rep. Elissa Slotkin has already declared her candidacy, making her a likely nominee.
Rogers’s entry into the race has the potential to make Republicans highly competitive in Michigan as they strive to regain a Senate majority in 2024. With just one or two seats to flip, depending on the outcome of the presidential election, the GOP is determined to make a strong comeback.
