Former Hochul aide Linda Sun and husband arrested after raid on home
Federal authorities arrested Linda Sun, Gov. Kathy Hochul‘s (D-NY) former chief of staff, along with her husband, Chris Hu, on Tuesday.
Sun and Hu are expected to be arraigned in Brooklyn Federal Court. Their arrest comes a month after the FBI raided their Long Island home and “conducted court-authorized law enforcement activity.”
The charges levied against them are still unknown but will be revealed on Tuesday.
Sun worked for Hochul from September 2021 to November 2022 before leaving to work in the New York Department of Labor. She was then fired from the department after evidence of misconduct was discovered. After that, she worked on the campaign for Democrat Austin Cheng, who unsuccessfully ran for Congress in New York’s 3rd Congressional District. At one point in her career, she also worked for Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) when the latter was a state assemblywoman.
“This individual was hired by the Executive Chamber more than a decade ago,” a Hochul spokesperson told the Washington Examiner. “We terminated her employment in March 2023 after discovering evidence of misconduct, immediately reported her actions to law enforcement and have assisted law enforcement throughout this process.”
Sun’s husband is the owner of a liquor store in Queens and several other businesses.
The Washington Examiner reached out to the FBI but did not receive a response.
