Ex-Lizzo dancers sue, claim sexual harassment & toxic workplace.

Former Backup Dancers File Lawsuit Against Lizzo Alleging Sexual Harassment and Toxic Work Environment

Former backup dancers for Lizzo ⁤have filed a lawsuit on Tuesday against the singer and her production company, claiming sexual harassment and a toxic work environment.

The lawsuit, obtained by People magazine and filed ⁢in Los Angeles Superior Court,⁢ names Lizzo, her production company Big Grrrl Big Touring,⁣ Inc., and Lizzo’s dance team captain, Shirlene Quigley, as defendants.

The three dancers, Arianna Davis, Crystal ⁤Williams,⁢ and Noelle Rodriguez, allege that Lizzo pressured them to engage with nude performers at an Amsterdam club in February of 2023.

According to the filing, Lizzo allegedly led a chant ‌pressuring Davis to touch the breasts of one of ⁤the nude performers,‍ despite Davis expressing her desire not to. ‌The dancers ‍felt ⁣that Lizzo showed ⁢little regard ⁤for‍ their bodily autonomy and the well-being of those around her.

Another part of the lawsuit states that Lizzo invited cast members to interact with ⁣the nude performers and objects launched from their vaginas, as reported by Page Six.

The lawsuit also alleges that a member of Lizzo’s security team was pressured to get on stage and told to “take it off.”

Davis also claimed that she⁤ was subjected‍ to an “excruciating” ⁢12-hour rehearsal and, fearing the repercussions of excusing herself to go to the ⁤restroom, had no choice but to “soil herself” on stage.

In addition, ‍the lawsuit accuses dance team captain Shirlene Quigley of pushing her Christian beliefs onto the dancers and oversharing her masturbatory habits and sex ⁣life with her husband.

Davis and Williams began performing with‍ Lizzo in 2021 but were fired in April and May, respectively. Rodriguez, who was hired in 2021, left earlier this year.

“The stunning ⁤nature of how Lizzo and her‍ management team treated their performers seems to go against everything Lizzo stands for publicly, while privately she weight-shames her⁣ dancers and demeans them in ways that are absolutely demoralizing,” said the plaintiffs’ attorney, Ron⁤ Zambrano, in a statement.

Following the lawsuit, Lizzo’s ‌former creative director Quinn Whitney Wilson and dancer Courtney Hollinquest showed support for the dancers on social media.

“I’m not⁣ a part⁣ of the ‍lawsuit – but this⁤ was very much my experience in my time there… I very much applaud the‍ dancers’ courage to bring this ⁤to light,” wrote Hollinquest.

Wilson shared the dancers’ screenshot and expressed the need for space to understand their own ⁣feelings about the situation.
