Former Maryland House Speaker Casper Taylor Dead at 88
Breaking news: Casper Taylor Jr., a beloved and influential Maryland politician, has passed away at the age of 88.
Taylor, a Democrat from Cumberland, served his district in Allegany County for nearly three decades as a member of the House of Delegates. He was a true leader, holding the position of speaker from 1994 to 2003.
His passing was announced by current House Speaker Adrienne Jones during a bill-signing ceremony at the State House. Jones, who served with Taylor for six years, called him a friend and mentor.
