The NFL Mourns the Loss of Young Athlete Alex Collins
The NFL world is in mourning today following the tragic death of a young athlete.
Alex Collins, 28, was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, according to a news release from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
Collins, a talented player who was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL draft after a successful college career with the University of Arkansas Razorbacks, leaves behind a legacy that will not be forgotten.
In his five-year NFL career, Collins made a significant impact on the field. He played his rookie season in Seattle, followed by two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, before returning to Seattle for two more seasons. His last appearance in the NFL was in 2021.
Prior to his tragic accident, Collins had been playing in the spring with the USFL Memphis Showboats. Unfortunately, he was placed on the injured reserve list, as reported by The New York Times.
The USFL expressed their condolences in a heartfelt social media post, extending their sympathies to Collins’ family, friends, and teammates during this difficult time.

Former teammates of Collins expressed their shock and sadness upon hearing the news of his passing.
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith posted a heartfelt farewell to his friend, sharing the Seahawks’ announcement along with his own sentiment: “Life is so crazy, man. Fly high, my boy, until we meet again” accompanied by a flying dove emoji.
He also added the phrase “AK ALL THE WAY” and the praying hands emoji.

John Harbaugh, Collins’ former coach with the Ravens, shared a touching statement about his former player after the devastating news broke.
“Alex was a joy to be around, and someone whose light shined brightly,” Harbaugh said.

Throughout his NFL career, Collins showcased his talent, rushing for 1,997 yards and scoring 18 touchdowns. He also contributed with 467 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.
