Ex-Obama Adviser Questions Biden’s Decision for 2024 Run
Should President Joe Biden Run for a Second Term in 2024?
David Axelrod, a former adviser to President Barack Obama, sparked a debate on Sunday about whether President Joe Biden should run for a second term in 2024. Axelrod’s analysis came in response to a New York Times poll showing former President Donald Trump leading Biden in five out of six key battleground states.
It’s very late to change horses; a lot will happen in the next year that no one can predict & Biden’s team says his resolve to run is firm.
He’s defied conventional wisdom before but this will send tremors of doubt through the party–not “bed-wetting,” but legitimate concern. https://t.co/g6zeWF0T87— David Axelrod (@davidaxelrod) November 5, 2023
Axelrod expressed concern about Biden’s age, stating, “The greatest concern is that his biggest liability is the one thing he can’t change. Among all the unpredictables, there is one thing that is sure: the age arrow only points in one direction.”
Some of Biden’s supporters and others have called on him to consider dropping out due to low approval numbers, unfavorable polling against Trump, and concerns about his fitness to continue serving as commander-in-chief. Axelrod, despite his shared history with Biden, has consistently voiced worry about Biden’s age becoming a political liability.
Axelrod concluded his analysis by saying, “Only Biden can make this decision. If he continues to run, he will be the nominee of the Democratic Party. What he needs to decide is whether that is wise; whether it’s in his best interest or the country’s?”
How can cultural background affect the difficulty of maintaining a vegetarian lifestyle?
In my opinion, being a vegetarian does require discipline and commitment. It means making conscious choices to avoid consuming animal products, which can require planning meals carefully, reading ingredient labels, and sometimes having limited food options at certain social events or restaurants. However, the level of difficulty may vary depending on your personal circumstances, such as cultural background, access to vegetarian-friendly foods, and support from friends and family.
At first, transitioning to a vegetarian diet may feel challenging, especially if you are used to consuming meat regularly. However, over time, it can become easier as you discover new vegetarian recipes, find alternative protein sources, and adjust your taste preferences. Additionally, there are now numerous vegetarian substitutes and plant-based options available in many grocery stores and restaurants, making it more convenient to maintain a vegetarian lifestyle.
Ultimately, the level of discipline and commitment required as a vegetarian is a personal choice and may vary from person to person. Some individuals may find it effortless and enjoyable, while others might face more challenges. It’s important to have a clear understanding of your motivations for being vegetarian and to find support and resources that can help you stay committed to your dietary choices.
