Former NFL‌ Player Alex Collins Dies⁣ in⁣ Tragic Motorcycle Accident

Former Seattle Seahawks ​and Baltimore Ravens running back Alex Collins tragically passed away​ on August 13 after ‌being involved in a fatal motorcycle accident⁤ in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the news.

The incident ⁢occurred on West Oakland Park Boulevard, ‌near the 3300 block, at approximately 10:20 p.m. According to preliminary investigations, Collins was riding his⁤ 2004 Suzuki GSX-R600K motorcycle eastbound ⁤on the boulevard, while an adult female was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban ‌SUV‍ westbound.

Tragically, the motorcycle collided with the rear passenger side of the SUV as the driver attempted to turn left onto Northwest 33rd Avenue. The impact caused ​Collins to enter the⁣ car through ⁣the rear passenger side ​window, resulting​ in his untimely death. The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated⁢ with the investigation.

‘Larger-Than-Life ‍Personality’

The circumstances surrounding ​the crash are currently under investigation. In a statement, Collins’s family​ described ‌him as having a “larger-than-life personality” and praised his‌ determination. ⁣They requested privacy during this difficult time.

Seahawks‌ Executive Vice President and General Manager John Schneider ⁤also paid tribute to Collins, highlighting his infectious smile and river dance skills. Schneider expressed condolences ⁢to Collins’s family, the Gatewood family, and his agent Kelli Masters.

‘You Will ‍Be Forever Missed’

“You will be forever missed, Alex. On behalf of Jody Allen, Pete Carroll, Chuck Arnold, Chad Morton, and the entire Seahawks⁢ community,‌ rest ⁢in⁤ peace brother,” the statement concluded.

A Fort Lauderdale native, Collins was ⁣drafted by ‍the Seahawks in 2016​ after a‌ successful college career ⁢at⁤ Arkansas. He later joined the Baltimore ⁤Ravens⁤ and became ⁣their leading rusher in 2017.
