“Folks, I don’t think the Trump team should post the bond. I don’t,” Bongino boldly stated. “This may sound like a crazy idea, but folks, we’re living in crazy times. And crazy times require different, crazy, bold approaches.”
Bongino criticized District Attorney Fani Willis, referring to her as a “smarta** tyrant” and a “little socialist communist.” He urged Trump not to post bail, challenging Willis to follow through with her threats. “You’re gonna jail him? Let’s elect our first political prisoner. Go ahead. Go to jail. Let the Secret Service shut the entire jail down, and we’ll see how long you’re willing to keep this charade going.”
According to Bongino, the Secret Service has the authority to declare any area, including a jail, a protected zone under federal law. If Trump were to spend time in jail, the Secret Service would exercise this power. Bongino acknowledged that his suggestion may seem outrageous, but he argued that people around the world have taken similar stands to send a message.
Furthermore, Bongino proposed that if Trump were imprisoned, supporters should gather outside the jail every day to protest. He believes that this would expose the true nature of those involved and demonstrate the strength of their convictions.
