Former Secret Service director given ‘unprecedented’ agency protection

Kimberly Cheatle, the former Secret Service director who resigned in the aftermath of former President Donald Trump’s assassination attempt, will receive significant agency protection due to the controversy around her.

The Secret Service will provide a security detail for Cheatle because of fears that someone may retaliate against her because of the agency’s failures during Trump’s July 13 assassination attempt that injured him and two others and killed a former fire chief.

The agency is providing the protection out of the Dignitary Protection Division, which protects foreign leaders when they visit the White House and other areas in Washington, D.C., and also protects lower-profile Cabinet officials. Biden ordered the protection for her because she was facing several threats, including death threats, and was approached by threatening individuals, according to RealClearPolitics.

Biden is familiar with Cheatle because she protected him on his vice presidential security detail. She resigned on July 23 after she was grilled by lawmakers from the House Oversight Committee.

It’s the first time the Secret Service has ever used its own resources to protect a former leader.

The agency also began protecting third-party candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. shortly after Trump’s assassination attempt after he had called for Secret Service protection for a chunk of his campaign to that point.

  1. If it was just incompetence as they say, her firing would be a satisfactory “punishment” for her. I don’t think the threats against her are because she was incompetent and a DEI hire.

Because of all the unusual circumstances surrounding this attempted assassination, the American people are not satisfied with the explanation that “they just goofed up!”

No professional protection agency could have made the number of mistakes that this one did “accidentally”.
